The Hockey IntelliGym

Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center hockey performance programs include cognitive therapy training designed to improve players' on-ice awareness and decision making, which in turn are expected to enhance performance and reduce injury rate.

Cognitive training has taken off amongst thousands of hockey players and programs of all levels in recent years. Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center collaborates with Applied Cognitive Engineering, creator of Hockey IntelliGym, to provide cognitive training software at our new facility in Rochester, MN. The Hockey IntelliGym software has been used by Major Junior clubs such as the Seattle Thunderbirds, Niagara Ice Dogs, Ottawa 67s, Regina Pats, and Portland Winterhawks. Major US College squads, such as the Union College Flying Dutchmen and the Air Force Falcons have also used the program.

Applied Cognitive Engineering developed the Hockey IntelliGym in conjunction with USA Hockey. Since USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP) began using the program in 2009, it has had major success on ice, including winning five IIHF U18 Men’s World Championships.
